The Best of Adventure Jam 2021

Now that I’ve finally finished playing every entry in Adventure Jam 2021, it’s about time I wrote about the best games of the jam. These are the games that really stood out for being especially fun to play. That’s the only criteria I am using: How fun was the game?

Also, there were a lot of good games made and this is simply my opinion on which ones are the best of the best. You should go to the Adventure Jam page and play whatever games look interesting to you there: https://gamejolt.com/c/adventuredev/advjam2021

AdventureX Jam 2020 Post-Mortem

The AdventureX conference is a lot of fun where you can hear interesting talks, look at upcoming and recent games, and meet other adventure game developers. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen this year for obvious reasons. So, they had a game jam instead!

First off, if you haven’t played my entry yet, you can play it here: https://standoffsoftware.itch.io/good-timin-woman. It’s a traditional point & click adventure game in 3D but with driving sections in a truck.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to talking about how AdventureX jam went down.

The Best of Adventure Jam 2018

Now that I’ve finally finished playing every entry in Adventure Jam 2018, it’s about time I wrote about the best games of the jam. These are the games that really stood out for being especially fun to play. That’s the only criteria I am using: How fun was the game?

First I’d like to make it known that, to the best of my ability, I played every game in the jam from beginning until end. I didn’t just start up each game, play a few minutes and shut it off. Even the truly terrible games, I put in my utmost effort to play the game all the way until the end. There were a very few games I was not able to complete (usually due to bugginess) but I did my best for every game.

Adventure Jam 2018 Post-Mortem

So, Adventure Jam happened again, this time from May 4th – May 18th, 2018. I had the Unicorn Dungeon release on the 23rd, but that game was completed and ready to release, so I figured I could take some time off to do this before descending into marketing hell.

First off, if you haven’t played my entry yet, you can play it here: https://gamejolt.com/games/crosspurposes/340843. It’s a multi-player point and click adventure game to be played by up to 3 players simultaneously.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to talking about how adventure jam went down this year.

The Best of Adventure Jam 2017

Now that I’ve finally finished playing every entry in Adventure jam 2017, it’s about time I wrote about the best games of the jam. These are the games that really stood out for being especially fun to play. That’s the only criteria I am using: How fun was the game?

Adventure Jam 2017 Post-Mortem

The two weeks from May 5th-19th were completely insane for me as I made a game in only two weeks for Adventure Jam 2017. It was a welcome break from Lutra City Mysteries to make something fresh and new and get my mind out of the rut.

First off, if you haven’t played my entry yet, you can play it here: http://gamejolt.com/games/YoureMyHero/255403.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to talking about how those two weeks went down.

Adventure Gaming Tips: Fixation

Sometimes, in the course of an adventure game, we get to a point where we feel completely stuck with no way forward. We know there must be a way forward, but it seems like we have tried everything possible and nothing is getting us any further.

This happens to almost every adventure game player in almost every adventure game at some point or another. So, how can we get out of this rut and start moving forward again?
